Deadlines, amounts, and the time words TOEIC uses to make two answer choices look almost identical.

Time and quantity words decide a surprising number of TOEIC questions, because the wrong choice is usually the one with the wrong timing. Learn the meaning, see it in a sentence, then test yourself.

approximately adverb
Almost exactly; about.The flight takes approximately two hours.
eventually adverb
In the end, after a long time.The delayed order eventually arrived three weeks late.
promptly adverb
Without delay; exactly on time.The meeting began promptly at nine o'clock.
temporarily adverb
For a short time only.The elevator is temporarily out of service while it is repaired.
gradually adverb
Slowly, over a period of time.Sales gradually improved over the summer.
annual adjective
Happening once a year.The annual report comes out in March.
numerous adjective
Very many.The report lists numerous small errors.
ample adjective
More than enough.There is ample parking behind the building.
portion noun
One part of a larger amount.A large portion of the budget goes to salaries.
remainder noun
The part that is left.The remainder of the stock will ship on Friday.
extend verb
To make something last longer.The store will extend its opening hours in December.
shorten verb
To make something shorter.We had to shorten the meeting to thirty minutes.
